4th of July Exploding Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

Printer-friendly version

Make a favorite summer fruit pop with flavor by adding pop rocks to white-chocolate covered strawberries. It’s easy to do, fun for everyone, and sure to bring sizzle to your celebration.  Making chocolate covered strawberries is easy, and can be made without a double boiler, but if you want the process to go smoothly you’ll want to invest in a double boiler.

Ingredients

  • 1 Quart Strawberries
  • 12 Ounces White Chocolate (chocolate bars work best)
  • 2 Bags of Pop Rocks (red and blue are best)

Directions

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Line a couple baking trays with greased wax paper. Pour Pop Rocks onto a small plate.

Wash strawberries and dry them thoroughly, use a paper towel if necessary. This is essential because wet strawberries will not hold chocolate.

Hold the stems of the strawberries and dip them in the chocolate, let the excess run off. Roll the strawberry in the Pop Rocks and then place them on the waxed paper to dry. It will take about 30 minutes to thoroughly set the chocolate.

Some of the Pop Rocks will melt but a large percent of them will still have that familiar old POP and add a little extra something to your holiday celebration.
