We’ve come up with some great Fourth of July meal suggestions that are very popular and focus on flavor and freshness rather than fried fat.

Pesto Chicken with Sliced Tomatoes

This recipe ranks right up there with our favorites because of the fresh, bright flavor of newly plucked garden tomatoes and the spicy hint of your herb garden basil. Each serving also packs a very small caloric punch with about 250 calories. Just be careful not to over use the parmesan, cheese is one of the easiest places to pack on the pounds.

Earthly Superfood Salad

Cold salads are a staple at most Fourth of July outings, and actually play a pretty strong role in most picnics throughout the season. If you’re looking for a burst of flavor that’s not coated in mayonnaise and supported by bland noodles, give this salad a try. It’s super healthy and by using local organic foods you can boost your nutritional value.
