When touring Boston make a point to visit Paul Revere’s house, the Old State House, the Public Garden which is well known for its antique Swan boats. The USS Constitution and Faneuil Hall are also must see attractions.
New York City
While New York City didn’t play a big role in the forming of this country, it has since been a gateway to new residents, housed the symbol of freedom and friendship and become a tragic reminder of the devastation terrorism can create. Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty and the World Trade Center’s September 11 Memorial & Museum are all must see destinations on any tour of patriotic stops in the United States.
Philadelphia
The Washington Square area in Philadelphia was one of five original squares laid down in 1682 by William Penn, the city’s founder. It currently is the home of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the American Revolution. It is located across the street from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. There are many, many more historic locations in downtown Philadelphia that will give you a greater insight on the birth of this country and the turbulent times immediately preceding and following this historic event.
Washington D.C.
And the crème de la crème of American patriotic cities is undoubtedly Washington D.C. While the city wasn’t the hotbed of political activity when the Declaration of Independence was signed, it still was a very important city and now is obviously the headquarters of American politics. There are dozens of monuments that are dedicated to American history but the top attractions tend to be the U.S. Capitol, the White House, the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial and Arlington Cemetery. Many of these top attractions can be found at The National Mall. This is the ultimate stop for any American history or patriotic buff.
